Shanghai + Capella (aka Shepela) is on the horizon. Stakers, node operators, infrastructure providers – take note and test! Academic Grant Round is LIVE! Applications are due at Shepela on February 27, 2023 at Horizon 🌅

After much testing and development, the Shanghai+Capella (Shapela) mainnet upgrade is moving into the final pre-launch sequence — the public testnet!

The Zhejiang testnet is live and available for stakers and users to test Shapela today. And, the first of the long-standing public testnets – Seppolia – is set to go through an upgrade on February 28th.

Shepela includes many features, but most importantly the stackers and the consensus-layer, enabling withdrawals. Full withdrawals will be available for exit validators, while partial withdrawals will be available for active validators balance above 32 ETH. For validators to participate in clearance, they must have 0x01 execution-layer clearance credentials. If a validator currently has a 0x00 BLS clearance credential, they must sign a change operation to 0x01 to enable clearance.

Please see this ETH Withdrawal FAQ to learn more about the withdrawal mechanics and how to enable withdrawals for your validator.

If you are an Ethereum stacker, node operator, infrastructure provider, or otherwise, now is the time to get up to speed on the upcoming Shepela upgrade, test your software, and pay attention. From here, each public testnet will be upgraded, and if all goes according to plan, the mainnet will soon follow.
