Globant, a Luxembourg-based Argentinian-born tech giant, mentioned the short-term future of the metaverse in its latest Tech Trends report. The metaverse will “burn or burn brightly” this year, according to the company, as it needs to show its potential versus other trend-setting technologies such as artificial intelligence.
The Metaverse at a Crucial Moment, According to Globant
Globant, one of the largest IT companies in the world, mentioned the potential future that the metaverse and the technologies associated with this new vision could have in the short term. According to its 2023 technical trends. reportthe company believes that 2023 is the year the metaverse “will burn bright or burn” as the market is still waiting for significant and practical applications in the field.
Companies like Meta have already invested billions of dollars in the sector, and while the company makes VR headsets aimed at mainstream audiences, it hasn’t been able to significantly penetrate even if it has the largest market share in this still niche market.
However, Globant believes that there are signs that point to the massive introduction of the metaverse. The company stated:
Major players in the metaverse space like Meta moving towards a viable product in 2023 will open the door to lower costs and lower barriers to entry, allowing the technology to reach more businesses and impact the lives of people around the world.
The Future of Virtual Interactions
For Globant, the technology behind the metaverse can positively impact people’s lives by acting as a vehicle for more industries to achieve deeper and more meaningful interactions with their customers. Agus Huerta, CTO of Globant, believes that every company must find its place in the metaverse.
Huerta stated:
Companies will expand the use of the metaverse for employee education and training, as well as other activities where simulation can enhance the experience.
Diego Tartara, global CTO at Globant, believes the metaverse is still in its infancy, but its evolution will change how people will live in the digital world in the future. Notable developments have already taken place in this area, such as the recent introduction of metaverse technology into court hearings in Colombia and the introduction of virtual environments to combat absenteeism and streamline recruitment processes in Japan.
