On February 20, MakerDAO announced a long-awaited change to its Github operations.
“We are now at a point where the Dai Foundation has handed over the management of the MakerDAO Github organization to the core TechOps division, hoping to reduce bureaucracy and move the Dai Foundation a step further from day-to-day operational tasks.”
The move comes after the Dai Foundation called for temporary changes to its software development services and general management of GitHub. Report for the 1st quarter of 2022.
Prior to this, during dissolution Maker Foundation in 2021 – The Dai Foundation has taken on temporary responsibility for maintaining the MakerDAO Github repository.
How the changes affect assets
Before handing over operational aspects to the new party, the Dai Foundation performed a comprehensive cleanup and reclassification of MakerDAO’s GitHub.
However, the organization’s mandate did not extend to software development or operational services, but to provide assurance of ownership of intellectual property.
This was done along with the introduction of new tools and processes to facilitate the transfer of copyright for any new protocol software and related content to the Dai Foundation, a process that has now been completed, the foundation says.
According to the update, the TechOps Core Unit will provide everyone with read access to software used by both the Maker Project and MakerDAO. It also ensures that all public repositories use the license and that public content managers obtain copyright information from the Dai Foundation.
